Refuse is a kind of action which can make others' lose face.But refuse is not always something we can avoid.If we don't refuse other well,our communication and interpersonal relationship will be under the influence of it whereas we refuse other well,it will make a good influence on our communication and interpersonal relationship.This study from the perspective of pragmatics,base on refusal speech act theory,select Chinese and South Korean telescript as the corpus,make social status,relationship,gender,and age to be the variable quantity.As analyze these different social relationship how to effect Chinese and South Korean,this article reveal the similarities and differences of Chinese and South Korean how to refuse others.Then,conclusions were drawn as follows:First,under these different variable quantity,as Chinese and South Korean refusing others,the highest used number of indirect strategy is the explain strategy.It means that because of the near geography and the resemble culture,when refusing others Chinese and South Korean both have the implicit expression.Second,when refusing others Chinese like to use the expression like something with “no” but South Korean like to use many kinds of expression.Third,according to the statistics,under these different variable quantity,the refuse expression types which Chinese used is much less than South Korean,especially these immediate ones.Fourth,the age,as one of the variable quantity doesn't have an impact as other factors.
