A Comparative Study Of The Vehicles Of Japanese Idioms

Idiomatic expression is a kind of daily idiom which is short and stereotyped and has extended meaning.Both Chinese and Japanese have their own idiomatic systems.They reflect people's cognition of society,culture and life in a large number of rich and accurate,vivid and concise contents and forms through metaphors and other rhetorical devices,and become an important part of language expression.However,due to the difference between the surface meaning and the actual meaning,and the diversity of the form changes in the actual use process,idioms have become a difficult point for non-native language learners to acquire.On the basis of many prior researches,the paper first uses cognitive and cultural linguistics methods to divide the metaphorical choices of Japanese and Chinese idioms into four categories: body,animal and plant,man-made and nature.On this basis,the metaphorical objects and metaphorical meanings of Japanese and Chinese are compared,and their correspondences are divided into five categories: the same metaphor and the same meaning,the same metaphor but the different meaning,the different metaphor but the same meaning,the only body exists in Japanese and the existence of the system and the Chinese language,so as to carry out comprehensive quantitative comparative analysis.Secondly,on the basis of quantifying and comparing a large number of Japanese-Chinese idioms,this paper discusses the restraining factors of Japanese-Chinese metaphorical choices,so as to better understand the similarities and differences between Chinese and Japanese cultures,with a view to providing some references for future Japanese teaching.
