Some higher vocational colleges in China have already implemented the graded teaching of English courses one after another,and the M Vocational College has also started to implement the two-layer classification teaching in 2011.Some achievements have been made in English teaching of the two-layer classification of students.However,some problems cannot be ignored in the actual teaching operation,which reflects the limitations of two-level teaching.Therefore,it is necessary to reform the current teaching mode,construct a new teaching model,and implement overpass-type teaching mode of the "grading+module" to promote the construction of multi-level and multi-module curriculum system,help students' career development and employment and meet the social needs of the demand of talents training in higher vocational colleges.In this study,the author firstly takes the students of Grade 2015 in M Vocational College as the research objects,and analyzes the teaching mode of two-layer classification in higher vocational English.Through the method of questionnaire investigation,the author finds out that the learning effect of the students under the classification is not ideal.Through the analysis of this teaching practice,the author finds that the original teaching mode of two-layer classification cannot meet the needs of higher vocational English teaching and the professional development of M Vocational College.Therefore,the author learns about students' attitude to the old graded teaching from the aspects of teaching styles and teaching contents and analyzes the existing problems,and then puts forward the "grading+module" overpass-type teaching mode of higher vocational English,and proposes a theoretical assumptions and analyzes the feasibility.The author and his teaching research team carry out a four-semester teaching practice for the students of Grade 2016 in their college.Through the implementation of this teaching model in the four levels of public English,the students' achievements are consolidated and improved,and it has also played an obvious role in training excellent and top-notch students.Modular English teaching is obviously beneficial to the cultivation of vocational ability for the students and the teaching effect is greatly improved.It can be seen that the "grading+module" overpass teaching mode is a better teaching mode than the two-level graded teaching mode,which can better meet the actual situation of higher vocational education and is a teaching model worth popularizing.
