Research On Improper Literal Translation In Chinese-English Consecutive Interpreting

Literal translation is a translation method which is often used in Chinese-English translation.The interpreter's inertia thinking of language and different degrees of familiarity with the two languages make literal translation more likely to meet immediate translation needs in the Chinese-English communication mode in most cases.However,the improper use of literal translation will also bring many problems to translation,such as the redundancy caused by improper literal translation,logic problems and mistranslation of the source language connotation.Improper literal translation occurs when the source language is not suitable for literal translation or cannot be literally translated,but the interpreter still uses the literal translation method and causes inappropriate,inaccurate or errors in the language and logic of the translated language.The common phenomenon of improper literal translation appears to be word-for-word translation or the source language simple sentences are listed one by one,etc.These improper methods of translation problems,the underlying reasons can be summarized as the Chinese and English bilingual language differences and the interpreter's language ability.The influence of the difference is mainly reflected in the inability of the literal translation method to translate the source language;the influence of the interpreter's language ability is mainly reflected in the bilingual transcoding process.The research combined with practical cases of interpretation,mainly to analyze the impact of bilingual language differences on the interpreter's processing of the source language,and proposed ways to improve and solve problems from the two dimensions of translation method theory and language ability training: English language ability training,transcoding process information reconstruction and applications of multiple translation methods,these methods will also have certain universality in the ability training of interpreters and translation teaching.
