The Causes And Solutions Of Improper Pauses In Chinese To English Consecutive Interpreting

Fluency is a critical standard in interpreting and a key factor to evaluate the quality of interpreting.Pauses is one of the major forms of disfluency.The pauses can be divided into normal pauses and improper pauses.Through study and research,the author find out various reasons for the improper pauses and summarize them into three categories.The first cause of improper pauses is due to extraction of information.The Second and the third reason for improper pauses are due to interpreting analysis and output.The study is based on the Chinese-to-English consecutive interpreting conference of Big Data Forum,which focus on the reasons of improper pauses and specific forms,and offered useful strategies according to different situations in order to reduce improper pauses.The advice given by the author is very comprehensive,which mainly includes advice to improve language ability and some technical strategy.
