Research On Wang Anyi's Novels From The Perspective Of Space Theory

Wang Anyi is a highly influential writer in the contemporary Chinese literary world.She maintains high productivity while maintaining high creative quality.Throughout Wang Anyi’s literary works,the spatiality is becoming increasingly prominent.In addition to directly writing Shanghai’s "Song of Everlasting Regret" and "Fu Ping",there are also a large number of works that write about rural space and natural geographic space.As a product of the rise of the Western Industrial Revolution,space theory has been gradually introduced into the field of domestic literary criticism in recent years,which has a high guiding significance for the study of literary works with obvious spatiality.This article interprets Wang Anyi’s novel text from two aspects of spatial elements and spatialized narratives,and intends to comprehensively comb and grasp Wang Anyi’s creative ideas and writing dilemmas from the perspective of space theory.Wang Anyi presents a hierarchical spatial picture in his novel.The early novels were mainly based on Wang Anyi’s own youth experience.Therefore,the urban space and rural space in the novel constitute an urban-rural "bipolar" space.The tense confrontation formed by the "bipolar" space in urban and rural areas makes Wang Anyi give the meaning of life-saving consciousness to rural spaces such as rivers and valleys.The later novels mainly focused on urban internal space writing,forming a three-level space composed of upper,middle and lower levels.Wang Anyi explores the release of the individual’s original vitality through various open spaces and dialogues with characters,and the constant implementation of space element experiments,and resists the invisible symbols of power,capital,and identity behind the space.From the perspective of spatialized narrative,space assumes a certain narrative function.Geographical space not only affects the plot and structure of the novel,but also has a certain metaphorical function.The change of space promotes or slows down the rhythm of the plot and changes the narrative process.Geographical space also forms the structure of "dual opposition","V",radial shape,ring,etc.in its text,which makes the spatialization of novel text more prominent.Wang Anyi uses the "moving camera" style narrative method of external perspective to innovate narrative techniques.The “moving camera”-type external perspective of photography uses zero-degree photography narrative and “interview” photography narrative to make apanoramic description of the urban low-level space and middle-level space,respectively,in an effort to build a multi-level urban landscape.The space element has been placed on the same level as the characters,and has become the main driving force for the narrative process.Wang Anyi stood outside the story and acted as a "historical commentator",constantly making the voice of the narrator.The spatial narrative makes the text of the novel appear three-dimensional and spatial,which is of great significance to better present the theme of the novel.
