Extracurricular reading is an important part of Chinese teaching in primary school.It is the expansion and extension of reading teaching in class and plays a key role in cultivating students'Chinese learning ability.Junior students are in the critical period of cognitive development.Effective extracurricular reading is of great significance for them to stimulate interest in learning Chinese,acquire knowledge of Chinese subjects,and develop good habits of Chinese learning.The paper is divided into five parts.The introduction explains the background and significance of the research,combs the results of previous studies,and finds that the previous studies pay less attention to the lower grades and focus on the summary of teaching experience.The second part defines the core concept of "extracurricular reading in the lower grade of primary school",discusses the theoretical basis of this investigation,and points out that extra-curricular reading in the lower grade of primary school has the characteristics of initiative,interest and arbitrariness.According to the theoretical basis of predecessors,the Chinese curriculum standards for the low-grade extracurricular reading were quantified.The third part is to obtain the bibliography types,reasons,interests,duration,sources and feedback information of the junior students' extracurricular reading by means of questionnaire.Using interview method to understand the attitude of teachers and parents to the low grade students' extracurricular reading,and through the observation method to find out the current situation of the primary school students' extracurricular reading.The fourth part reveals the problems existing in the lower grade students themselves,teachers,parents and schools,and analyzes the causes combined with the results of the investigation.lt was found that the factors such as the level of physical and mental development of the students,the degree of teacher's extracurricular reading instruction,the degree of extracurricular reading at home,the extracurricular reading atmosphere of the school,and the quality of government supervision book printing had an impact on the extracurricular reading of the lower grade students.The fifth part includes the development of extracurricular reading interest,the selection of books,the use of reading methods,the creation of reading atmosphere,the development of reading feedback activities,the development of reading habits,and the management of book quality.lt points out the solution to the problem of extracurricular reading for elementary school students.Through the joint efforts of all parties'educational factors,lower grade students can feel the pleasure of reading after class,enhance the motivation of language learning,and lay a good foundation for language learning in the future.
