At present,with the rapid development of information technology,new media,such as the Internet and mobile phone,have been widely concerned and used by people.College students,in particular,have a strong thirst for knowledge and curiosity about new things,preferring to use new media.The new media not only used to acquire knowledge by College students,but also become a way of interpersonal communication.Under the background of new media,college students have undergone tremendous changes in their ideology,behavior and value orientation.This undoubtedly increases the difficulty of college students’ ideological and political education and puts forward higher requirements for ideological and political educators.Therefore,how to correctly understand the new media and make full use of the advantages of new media to develop college students’ ideological and political education,which is an important task that colleges and universities have to face currently.Utilizing the new media to carry out university students’ ideological and political education effectively,we must find the connection between the new media and the ideological and political education of college students.The new media’s characteristics as well as the development trends are summarized,so we have a preliminary understanding of new media.The new media is widely used in college students and it has the condition of being a carrier of ideological and political education.Therefore,it is feasible to apply new media to college students’ ideological and political education.In addition,with the rapid development of new media technology,the forms of new media are rich in the application of college students’ ideological and political education.The new media is a double-edged sword,which brings opportunities and challenges to college students’ ideological and political education.The new media will expand the education resources,innovative ideas and politics education,close the distance between teachers and students,and enhance the effect of education.However,the complex new media environment has weakened the traditional education mode,the authority of the educator has been eliminated,and the ideological concept of the educated has been impacted.Therefore,ideological and political educators should be good at seizing opportunities and actively meeting challenges in the process of using new media to carry out teaching.Through questionnaires,summarizing the problems existing in the application of the new media in university students’ ideological and political education.The educator’s ability to control and guide the new media information is obviously insufficient.College students’ consciousness is not strong enough in using new media to accept the ideological and political education.We not give full play to the advantages of new media.The environment of new media needs to be purified.Through analyzing the causes of these problems,and provides a basis for collegestudents’ ideological and political education in using the new media effectively.On the basis of above analysis,we puts forward the countermeasures to promote the use of new media in college students’ ideological and political education.Through enhancing educators’ ability on the analysis of the new media information,enhancing college students’ enthusiasm to accept the ideological and political education in using new media,attaching great importance to construction of the new media carrier and optimizing the environment of new media,so as to promote college students’ ideological and political education carry out smoothly.
