| Objective: as a time-saving and effective exercise method,high-intensity interval training has been incorporated into physical exercise to improve the physical health of children and adolescents.Little research has been done on the effects of high-intensity interval training on children’s cognitive abilities.Numerous experimental studies have confirmed that moderate exercise can enhance the cognitive ability of adolescents. So what are the effects of high-intensity interval training on physical fitness and executive control in children and adolescents? In order to answer this question, this paper observed and compared the differences of physical quality and executive control ability between children and adolescents after a period of high-intensity interval training and continuous aerobic training. Methods: longitudinal tracking and control design were used to observe and compare the changes of children’s physical quality index and executive control ability index before and after six-week exercise intervention.Students from class 4,grade 5,furen school, shandong university were randomly divided into control group and experimental group, including 22 people in the control group and 23 people in the experimental group,a total of 45 people. The experimental group received high-intensity interval training, and the ratio of exercise/interval was 1:1.The control group received continuous aerobic training.Physical fitness index and executive control ability index were measured before and after the experiment. The evaluation index of the executive control ability used the classic Stroop reaction time test in the system environment of e-prime2.0 experimental design.SPSS23.0 statistical software was used to conduct descriptive statistics and inferential statistics for the data tested in the teaching experiment. After six weeks of high-intensity interval training and continuous aerobic training, the body quality indexes of the subjects were changed, such as 10x4(P=0.06,P=0.08),but the improvement effect of high-intensity interval training on 50-meter performance(P=0.06)and 50-meter 8 double track performance(P=0.06)was better than that of continuous aerobic training. The subjects’ stroop response after six weeks of high-intensity interval training was shortened from 892.72±170.36 before training to 819.86±130.99,P=0.01;After six weeks of continuous aerobic training, subjects’ stroop response was shortened from 901.47±151.69 before training to 833.17±134.10,P=0.04.The results showed that both types of exercise significantly improved the subjects’ executive control ability, which was reflected in the shortened stroop response time, but the effect of high-intensity interval training group was better than that of continuous aerobic training group(P=0.01 vs 0.04).Conclusion: after six weeks of high-intensity interval training and continuous aerobic training, the improvement effect of high-intensity interval training on the performance of 50 meters,50 meters 8 turn run is better than continuous aerobic training. The 6-week high-intensity interval training and aerobic continuous training have a significant promoting effect on the executive control ability of children, which is manifested as the significant shortening of stroop response, but the effect of high-intensity interval training group is better than that of continuous aerobic training group. |
