In recent years,more and more educators have realized pupils' need for sexuality education and its great significance of implementing school-based sexuality curricula in primary school.Some elementary schools have developed and implemented some curricula with the instruction and support from the government policies.This thesis takes X Primary School as a case study,which is one of the forty-three quality primary schools in Shanghai.It,whose sexuality education curriculum that fills the national curricular vacancy is representative,has developed,implemented,revised and promoted its school-based curriculum “Boys&Girls” as its brand course for more than a decade.Through observation in class and deep interviewing with the principal,the leader of this curriculum and three other teachers in the group called Sunshine workshop,the author not only analysis and summarize the current situation of Boys&Girls curriculum developing and implementing,including its effects and defects,but put forward countermeasures according to the curriculum theory and It's All One Curriculum Guideline to X Primary School and other schools which intend to implement sexuality courses.The thesis is divided into five parts.In the first part,the reason,problem,purpose,significance and method to do the research are illustrated and explicated.Besides,the concepts,sexuality,school sexuality curriculum,school-based curriculum development and curriculum implementation are defined.The author also gives a comprehensive review of sexuality curriculum in primary school both at home and abroad.In the second part,the author analyses all aspects of the implementation of Boys&Girls curriculum in X Primary School.The author concludes as follows.X Primary School is clear about the value proposition of Boys&Girls curriculum and teachers are absolutely positive to develop and implement Boys&Girls course.The design of curriculum structure and objective are explicit.The implementing methods are also of diversity.The management and evaluation of the curriculum,training for teachers and promotion of the curriculum have obtained good achievements.Then the author summarize the following experiences and enlightenments of Boys&Girls curriculum.Boys&Girls curriculum helps with develop the students' Key Competencies and meets the studying need of more students.It also has trained aquantity of sexuality educators,enriched the sexuality theory and practise and had good social influence.Since Boys&Girls curriculum has developed for more than a decade,it not only truly becomes a ripe curriculum,but also presents some problems.In the forth part,the author points some problems out.Such as Boys&Girls courses valuation lacks of diversification,and the teaching objectives and content need to be enriched and updated.Curriculum implementing lacks of communication between school and families.Teachers need to be more professional.And the author also puts forward some solutions.Mainly ranged from developing school-based curriculum with pluralistic values,enriching and refining teaching objectives according to It's All One Curriculum Guideline,strengthening training for parents,and improving the teachers' professionalism.The last part is the author's conclusion about the deficiencies and the future trend of this research.
