The Reading of Literary Masterpieces is of great help to students.It can help increase their knowledge,improve their self-cultivation and enrich their feelings.The New Curriculum Standard has explicit requirements for reading masterpieces.However,lack of classic reading has been s serious problem.Students aren’t willing to read and teachers pay no attention to teaching.If the situation isn’t changed,there will be huge hidden danger which may hinder the development of a state and nation.This paper aims at seeking effective solutions to change the situation of classic reading by studying a region.Through questionnaires,visits and forums,I learned about how students read and teachers taught literary masterpieces in rural junior middle schools in Central Jiangsu Region and put forward concrete and feasible strategies from three aspects-society,family and school.This paper is divided into four parts.Introduction gives an overview of the background of the survey of junior middle school students’ classic reading in rural areas of Central Jiangsu Region,research subjects,related summaries from home and abroad and their theory evidence,research contents and methods.It also defines some related concepts.Chapter 1 gives a recognition of realistic significance of reading famous works in rural areas of Central Jiangsu Region.It is explained from three aspects-increasing knowledge,improving self-cultivation and enriching feelings.By reading famous works,students can gain systematic historical knowledge completely and clearly,perceive writers’ artistic styles,master the inheritance and innovation of cultures.It can help students develop an active and optimistic attitude,a spirit of perseverance and a modest and prudent style.It can enable students to tell right from wrong and distinguish good from evil,communicate extensively and make friends wisely,know honor and disgrace and have deep and strong patriotism.Chapter 2 has a survey and analysis of the present situation of junior middle school students’ reading famous works in rural areas of Central Jiangsu Region.First,it surveys and analysizes the overview of rural junior middle school students’ reading famous works,from the choice of research subjects and research design of students’ reading to their interest in the course of reading,reading motivations,reading habits,.reading quantity and difficulties that possibly exist.Then it analysizes the present situation of rural junior middle school students’ reading,including examination requirements for reading famous works in Senior High School Entrance Examination in Taizhou,reading tests for for famous books in Chinese Test Papers in Taizhou over these years,specific requirements Taixing Bureau of Education gives for the reading of famous works,the research design of reading and analysis of reading situation in junior middle schools.It aims to put forward the best strategy according to these.Chapter 3 puts forward targeted strategies from three aspects-society,family and school.In society,publicity should be strengthened to form a good reading atmosphere and more activities should be held to stimulate good social reading interest.In family,parents must be fully aware of the important role they play in family reading.Practical and feasible plans should be made to create a good reading atmosphere.As for school,this paper mainly discusses three aspects-school management,teachers’ teaching and students’ reading.
