In the 21st century,under the background of the rapid development of information technology such as the Internet,the total amount of information has increased in magnitude,which poses higher requirements and challenges for individuals living in the information age.Countries and organizations all over the world are aware of the importance of information literacy to individual development which has become one of the core literacy talents.Individuals must realize that they live in the information age,information sensitivity and the ability to use information technology to acquire,evaluate,process,and exchange information are also indispensible.At the same time,they must ensure that information behavior meets the requirements of ethics and law.Information security needs attention too.This research firstly combs and analyzes the previous research on information literacy,which is elaborated from three dimensions:change and development of connotation,evaluation standard and system construction,current situation and influencing factors.On the basis of previous researches,the information literacy is divided into three dimensions:information consciousness and cognition,information knowledge and ability and information morality and security.And a framework and the questionnaire for information literacy evaluation of primary school students are constructed to investigate the status of information literacy of primary school pupils from three different districts of X city.Then,based on the questionnaire survey results,the author conducted in-depth interviews with the class teachers and information technology teachers to comprehensively understand the status quo and existing problems of primary school students’ information literacy development.It is found that there are many problems existing in the status quo of information literacy of respondents:the information health awareness of senior students in primary schools needs to be improved,the development of information capabilities is not balanced,and students’ copyright awareness is weak.Teachers’ misunderstanding of the connotation of information literacy,the lacks of attention on literacy education etc.are factors that may possibly result in these problems.Finally,aiming at the status quo of information literacy of primary school students and the possible causes,several suggestions are put forward:the construction of school information resources,the promotion of teacher’s information literacy,the expansion of cultivation ways of information literacy etc.
