Practical Research On Using HPS To Improve Students' Inquiry Ability In High School Biology Teaching

The curriculum reform in the new era puts forward higher and clearer requirements for students'core literacy,emphasizing the improvement of biological science literacy,facing all students,advocating inquiry learning,and emphasizing the connection between teaching and practice.HPS(History philosophy and sociology of science)teaching is a teaching method that integrates the history of science and philosophy of science into the science curriculum of middle school and helps students to further understand the scientific literacy and the essence of things.Through HPS teaching,students are shown the process of scientific development,the essence of natural science is revealed,the scientific attitude and spirit of scientists facing the truth are presented,the relationship between the progress of science and technology and social development is discussed,students'view of scientific essence is cultivated and developed,students'knowledge construction is promoted,correct scientific concept is formed,and students' critical spirit and learning ability are trained.And the ability to put forward and solve problems,so as to enhance students'inquiry ability.In this paper,the contents of the history of Science in the three compulsory biology textbooks of senior high school edition are screened and sorted out.There are 78 textbooks in the history of science,of which 127 are compulsory,233 are compulsory and 318 are compulsory.It covers the introduction of scientists,scientific cooperation,science and technology,science and society.Through questionnaires,this paper investigates the interest of senior high school students in the history of science and the current situation of the teaching implementation of the history of Science in Kuerle,Bayin Guoling Prefecture,Xinjiang.The results show that students are generally interested in the history of science,but the teaching implementation is not enough to meet the needs of students.This study constructs three HPS teaching processes,namely stage demonstration method,content supplement method and practice reproduction method,and shows the corresponding teaching design cases.This paper carries out teaching practice for senior one students of a middle school in Kuerle,Bayinguoleng Prefecture,Xinjiang.Three kinds of HPS teaching are carried out according to the suitable content of "Genetics and Evolution",the second compulsory course of biology in the People's Education Press.Through one semester's practice teaching,the qualitative and quantitative methods such as questionnaire,classroom observation and classroom statistics are used to discuss and analyze.The conclusions are as follows:(1)HPS teaching is conducive to cultivating students'ability to discover and solve problems on their own initiative.(2)HPS teaching is conducive to the development of students'critical thinking,which is more open and exploratory.(3)HPS teaching is conducive to cultivating students'autonomy and learning ability.Based on HPS teaching,this paper designs and practices teaching around students'inquiry ability through three HPS teaching processes.Teaching practice shows that HPS teaching has strong operability and effectiveness.Through the rational use of HPS teaching,high school students'inquiry ability can be improved.This study screened out the contents of the history of Science in the three compulsory textbooks of biology,and provided reference for future research and teaching.
