As an indicator to measure and predict students' learning state, learning engagement plays an important role in students' academic achievement and future development. However, with the development of society and the progress of the times, junior high school students are suffering from various pressures.Anxiety has become one of the main problems in their daily life. Therefore, the main content of this study is to explore the relationship between anxiety and learning engagement and the role of self-esteem in the mechanism of their influence.389 junior middle school students randomly selected from Heilongjiang Province and Shanxi Province were taken as the research objects.Using SAS anxiety self-assessment scale,uwes-s learning engagement scale and self-esteem scale(SES)revised by Li Xiying et al.(2010),using spss20.0 software statistical analysis data, the research results are as follows:1.The overall situation of junior high school students' learning engagement is low.Boys' learning engagement and all dimensions are higher than girls' and there is significant grade difference, which shows that the second grade of junior high school has the highest learning engagement, followed by the first and third grade of junior high school, but the three grades have no difference in motivation input dimension. The overall anxiety of junior high school students is more serious, the anxiety of girls is significantly higher than that of boys, the anxiety of rural junior high school students is generally higher than that of urban junior high school students, and the frequency of unlucky premonition and urine intention of junior high school students is slightly higher than that of junior high school students. The development of self-esteem of junior middle school students is lower than that of urban junior middle school students.2.Junior high school students' anxiety is negatively correlated with self-esteem and learning engagement, while self-esteem is positively correlated with learning engagement.3.Self-esteem plays an intermediary role in the relationship between anxiety and learning engagement, that is,anxiety can directly affect learning engagement,or indirectly affect learning engagement by acting on self-esteem.4.There is no significant interaction between anxiety and self-esteem of junior high school students. It has a significant impact on the motivation input dimension of junior high school students.
