The older children are facing a critical period when the kindergarten to primary school,therefore,attention to the mental health and emotional regulation of young children's development has become an important part of the science to do a good job in bridging young children.Good emotions can promote the development of young children in cognition,thinking and interpersonal communication.Using the quasi-experimental design in the experimental method,this study used a large class of 60 toddlers as subjects,divided into experimental and control classes,with 30 toddlers in each of the two classes.A nine-week picture book teaching activity is conducted for the experimental children,comparing the experimental and control classes in terms of both emotion regulation development and emotion regulation strategies,and exploring whether it has a positive effect on the development of emotion regulation in the older class.The results of the study show that.1.After the intervention of picture book teaching,the children in the experimental class scored significantly higher on all dimensions of emotion regulation development,meaning that picture book teaching effectively promoted the emotion regulation development of the children in the experimental class;the scores on the dimensions of cognitive reconstruction,problem solving,alternative activities,support seeking,self-soothing and other emotion regulation strategies increased significantly,and the scores on the dimensions of passive coping,emotional venting,aggressive behavior decreased significantly.That is,picture book teaching enriches and optimizes to some extent the emotion regulation strategies of young children in the experimental class.2.Picture book teaching is effective in promoting the development of emotional regulation in older children.Teachers need to devote a lot of attention to the development of emotion regulation in early childhood,and fully exploit the educational value of picture books on emotion regulation in young children.Kindergartens are also required to provide hardware and software support for textbooks and research on the healthy emotional development of young children.
