Compassion is to enable individuals to experience and feel the misfortunes of others,understand the needs and desires of others,and provide care,comfort and help in action.It promotes the integrity of children's personality,promotes the development of their moral qualities,and promotes altruistic behavior.Make young children friendly and kind.Existing research shows that compassion is gradually developed through acquired culture.The age of 4 to 5 years is a critical period for the development of compassion in young children.Therefore,it is necessary to cultivate compassion for young children at this stage.Picture books are very popular with children and parents because of their exquisite pictures and vivid content.They have very important educational value.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to cultivate sympathy for children aged 4-5 through picture book themed activities in order to promote the development of compassion in young children.In this study,two middle class children(4-5 years old)in a public kindergarten in Tianjin were randomly divided into experimental class and control class,with 30 children in each class.The experimental class carried out the experiment intervention of eight weeks of picture-book themed activities,and the control class carried out the routine teaching without any educational intervention.After the experiment,two classes of children were posttested,and two classes were followed up one month after the end of the experiment.The research results show that after 8 weeks of picture book theme activities,the development level of sympathy for children in the experimental class is significantly higher than that of the control class,indicating that the picture book theme activities have effectively promoted the development of sympathy for children aged 4-5.A follow-up test one month later showed that the level of compassion development in the experimental class was better than that in the control class,indicating that the theme activity of picture books had a lasting effect on the development of compassion in children.This study puts forward the following educational Suggestions:1.Emphasize the use of picture book themed activities to promote the development of compassion in children aged 4-5.2.Carry out various picture book themed activities.3.Pay attention to the organic combination of picture book theme activities and all aspects of day life in kindergartens.4.Families and kindergartens work together to promote the sustainability of young children's compassion.5.Teachers and parents should pay attention to role models of adults in the implementation of picture book activities.6.Promote the establishment of picture book theme activity course resources and picture book theme book libraries.
