Problem solving is the core of mathematics education in all ages in history,and the ability to solve mathematical problems is a component of mathematical literacy,and the primary school stage is the "golden period" to cultivate students' ability to solve mathematical problems.In view of this situation,combined with the current situation of basic education in China,this paper makes an in-depth discussion on the assessment of mathematics problem solving ability in the fifth grade of primary school,and draws the corresponding conclusion.This paper is based on the literature method to obtain the relevant data support,using the test method and questionnaire method to collect data,and the use of mathematical statistics and comparison method to the data processing and analysis.Problem solving ability was tested and analyzed in 171 samples of fifth graders.According to the results of the survey,the math problem solving ability of fifth grade students is in the middle level.Among them,the system analysis and design ability is good,then is the decision-making ability,the troubleshooting ability is poor.The relevant teaching strategies are put forward: teachers should attach importance to the guidance of solving students' mathematical problems and create a reasonable teaching situation;Increase communication and interaction,pay attention to the creation of active questioning environment;The cultivation and training of students' mathematical thinking are emphasized in teaching.
