| Since 2012,more than 500 primary schools in the central and western regions of China have carried out the Ministry of Education-United Nations Children’s fund Social and Emotional Learning project. The project mainly through the school atmosphere construction, effective teaching,home-school cooperation and other ways to promote students’ social emotional ability. The effective teaching includes two teaching methods:social and emotional learning school-based curriculum teaching and integrating social and emotional learning concept into subject teaching. At the beginning of 2020,affected by the epidemic situation, online social and emotional learning courses have entered the vision of some students and parents. The online social and emotional learning course in this study includes two parts:parents’ course and children’s course. The course form is online live, and you can review the course unlimited times after class. The online social and emotional learning course is more flexible and diverse in time and form.In addition to participating in parents’ course, parents can also see the content and situation of children’s participation in the course, which is convenient for parents to understand the current situation of their children’s social and emotional learning。This course is effectively avoiding parents’inability to participate in the course due to time and space problems, and is conducive to the introduction of high-quality education resources in less developed areas. That is a way of promoting educational equity. It can also be used as a supplement to the existing social and emotional learning curriculum in schools. This study focuses on the online social and emotional learning course launched during the epidemic period, analyzes its advantages and disadvantages, understands the current situation of the online social and emotional learning course from the perspective of home-school cooperation, and puts forward corresponding improvement strategies. In this study,124 valid questionnaires were collected from parents who participated in online social and emotional learning courses. The specific contents of the questionnaire mainly include:the basic information of the students participating in the course, parents’ evaluation of teachers’ online teaching ability and comprehensive ability, the evaluation of online learning platform, and the overall evaluation of the course. In order to further understand the parents’ views on online social and emotional learning course, the researchers also interviewed 7 parents. At the same time, the researchers also interviewed five teachers who carried out online courses during the epidemic period to understand the implementation of online social and emotional learning courses from the perspective of teachers.Through questionnaire survey and interview with parents,it is found that online social and emotional learning course has been approved by most parents.More than 95%of the parents thought that the teachers’ professional level was high and the overall quality was good;94.36%of the parents were satisfied with the overall level of the curriculum.Although parents approved of the course, only 4.84%of parents said they preferred online learning mode,58.87%of parents thought that social and emotional learning course was more suitable for online and offline combination, and 29.84%of parents preferred offline social and emotional learning course. At the same time, the loss rate of students in this course is high.In the first course, more than 2000 people participated in live learning, and then gradually decreased. In the last course, only more than 300 people participated in live learning.Parents are not satisfied with the function of mixed age classes and learning platform with their children, they think that the richness and interactivity of the course content need to be improved;at the same time, the lack of supporting materials and the systematicness and integrity of the curriculum need to be strengthened.Through interviews with teachers,it is found that due to the emphasis on interaction in social and emotional learning courses, students need to learn through experience.Through interviews with teachers,it is found that teachers face the following challenges:first, social and emotional learning courses focus on interaction, and online teaching seriously affects the interactive effect.Secondly, the workload for teaching this course is higher than before.Thirdly, online courses have higher requirements for teachers’professional ability. In view of the above research results, this study proposed the following school implementation of online social and emotional learning home-school cooperation improvement strategy,in order to provide reference for school implementation of online social and emotional learning curriculum home-school cooperation mode.First of all, school management methods need to provide all-round support, such as expanding the publicity of the curriculum, improving the curriculum system, optimizing the online learning platform, providing professional training and extensive support for teachers, optimizing the ratio of teachers and students, teaching children’s courses by age,and using external resources.Secondly, teachers need to improve their comprehensive ability, such as improving the level of information technology, team cooperation ability, changing teaching methods, and paying attention to communication with parents. Finally, parents also need to be more deeply involved in home-school cooperation.Parents need to update the concept of parenting, actively participate in the corresponding learning opportunities provided by the school and continue to practice,at the same time, change their traditional passive position in home-school cooperation, and actively promote the promotion and implementation of online social and emotional learning courses. |
