| With the deepening of China’s basic education reform,educators pay more attention to the primary school mathematical modeling.Mathematical modeling is one of the important mathematical qualities.Students with a certain level of mathematical modeling ability can analyze perception problems mathematically in real situations,use mathematical knowledge to solve problems,understand the relationship between mathematics and real life,and feel the application value of mathematics.The model idea proposed by the curriculum standard further demonstrates the application value of mathematics.The primary school stage is the foundation period to cultivate students’ mathematical modeling ability.Moreover,primary school senior students are in the transition stage from concrete operation to formal operation.The development of students’ mathematical modeling ability is closely related to the development of other math-related qualities,which will also affect students’ future mathematical learning to a certain extent.Based on the above background,the understanding of the level of mathematical modeling ability of senior primary school students can provide some references for front-line teachers to determine the teaching contents and teaching methods of mathematical modeling,which has the feasibility and value of research.This study took a primary school in Nanjing the elementary school higher grades(grade 5,6)students for example,by formulating the mathematical modeling of the corresponding ability level test test,at the same time extend students’ ability of mathematical modeling questionnaires and interviews with teachers to understand the status of elementary school senior level of the students’ ability of mathematical modeling,study the following conclusions:First,the overall mathematical modeling ability of senior primary school students is between level 1 and level 2,not up to the average level,and there is a phenomenon of polarization.Second,on the difference analysis of students’ mathematical modeling ability level,it is concluded that there is no significant difference between male and female students’ mathematical modeling ability level.There are significant differences in the level of mathematical modeling ability between grade 5 and grade 6 primary school students.Thirdly,the level of students’ modeling ability is significantly correlated with their math scores.The better the students’ math scores are,the higher the level of their mathematical modeling ability is.Fourth,the senior grade students of the primary school have a low degree of cognition of mathematical modeling ability and a weak awareness of modeling.Teachers do not have a good understanding of mathematical modeling,and they have not formed a good ideological awareness of modeling.In normal teaching,they do not pay much attention to the infiltration of model ideas,and the teaching activities of mathematical modeling are not fully carried out.Students are encouraged to explore problems actively in class.Based on the above survey conclusions,this study is proposed from three perspectives: schools,teachers themselves and classroom teaching.A number of recommendations.It is summarized as follows: schools should provide teachers with teaching resources and platforms,and encourage teachers to actively carry out modeling teaching activities;Teachers should take the initiative to participate in training,improve their own mathematical modeling literacy,and strengthen inter-group cooperation;In the classroom teaching,we should use all kinds of methods to infiltrate the model thought consciously and cultivate students’ mathematical modeling ability. |
