Moxley(2000)maintains that there are at least four levels of our being, viz.body, mind, heart, and spirit.Nonetheless, previous theories of leadership have mainly concerned with the first three basic levels, and ignored the level of spirit. Thus, responding to the deficiency in the prior theories,Fry(2003)puts forward the Spiritual leadership theory, which has drawn more and more attention both in international and domestic academies. And newly developed,Spiritual leadership theory reflects the unprecedented requirements of the employee's growing spiritual demands on organizational management in the context of contemporary society.Starting from the spiritual leadership, and utilizing the combination of theoretical studies and empirical analysis, the present study explores the relationship between spiritual leadership and the behavior of employee's self-leadership as well as its underlying functional mechanism by using the sample of 242 employees from different companies in diverse business trades in distinct provinces. The results are as follows:(1)spiritual leadership has significantly positive impact on self-leadership;(2)spiritual leadership has significantly impact on intrinsic motivation;(3)Intrinsic motivation has significantly impact on self-leadership;(4)intrinsic motivation has partial mediating function on spiritual and self-leadership;and(5)person-job fit has remarkably positive moderating function on the relation between spiritual leadership and intrinsic motivation, the higher the fit index, the more intense the positive impact of spiritual leadership on intrinsic motivation. Therefore, through investigating the relationship between spiritual leadership and self-leadership,this study makes several recommendations based on the aforementioned research results, which to a certain degree enriches the related research on spiritual leadership, and provides some reference and inspiration for the managerial practice.
