Since the introduction of the MDGs,the developed countries have committed more and more aid, which has becoming the external driver for the global trade. However, with the proliferation of trade liberalization, less developed countries in the global trading system has suffered a severe isolation.Recognizing that the structural and supply-related constraints of the LDCs severely constrained their participation in international trade, the WTO established the Task Force and started the "Aid for Trade(AfT)" initiative. At present, there is not much research on the effectiveness of the Aid for Trade, and due to the negative impact of the traditional aid, there is existing the doubts about AfT from the international community. So this article attempts to reveal the mystery of "aid for trade" by providing a comprehensive analysis for AfT's development as well as empirical research for figuring out the relations between AfT and trade.Through theoretical and empirical analysis,AfT has great potential to improve a country's trade environment and enhance one country's export competitiveness.First of all,the total amount of AfT can significantly increase the total export value of the recipient countries, and there does exist "the best AfT amount".When it terms to the subdivided types of AfT,the outcome of the relationship between aid and trade varies,"BPC aid" as well as "TPR aid" from the donor countries can both produce significantly positive influence on total-export,and the latter one owns higher coefficient, but "BPC aid" has the largest "the best aid amount".Then,AfT,especially"EI aid",can promote the relative export structure of capital technology-labor-intensive commodity export so that to achieve the upgrading of export structure within industrial products. Finally, this paper finds the influence for AfT to recipient countries' export performance is enhanced more when the the resource of AfT is allocated in lower labor-intensive as well as higher capital-intensity export industry.
