Research On Regional Differences Of Poverty And Its Influencing Factors In China

In order to fully understand the regional poverty in our country,this paper,based on the database of CHNS data from 2000 to 2011,and regarding a family as the study unit,uses the A-F method to measure and decompose the family poverty,and uses the Logit model to further study the different influencing factors of poverty between Eastern China,Middle China and Western China.Finally,the transmission mechanism of regional multidimensional poverty is explored.The study finds that poverty incidence and multidimensional poverty index in China are both declining,and the poverty situation was significantly improved.But the dimension decomposition results show that the family still have some dimensions of poverty in our country,among them,sanitation,education,and appliance contribute most of multidimensional poverty index,are still the important factors that affect China's poverty;The decomposition of urban and rural areas shows that the contribution rate of rural poverty to China is rising,indicating that the gap between urban and rural poverty is widening.The multidimensional poverty index shows an increasing trend from the eastern region to the middle region and the western region.In the study of regional differences in influencing factors of poverty,empirical results show that,for the East,household registration and family medical insurance rate have more prominent influence on family poverty,for the Middle,household registration and family per capita have more prominent influence on family poverty,for the West,family per capita and the maximum number of years of educating for family members have more prominent influence on family poverty.In the exploration of the transmission mechanism of poverty,combining the results of the empirical research from three aspects of the institutional factors,the factors from the poor and the environmental factors,the poverty transmission mechanism map is drawn.Finally,according to the research results,we put forward some targeted suggestions for poverty alleviation.
