The 13th Five-Year Plan period(2016-2020)is a decisive period for China with the targets of building a moderately prosperous society and forming the "olive-shaped" social structure. To achieve the goals,it is crucial to increase peasants' income and narrow the rural income gap.In recent years,as the industrialization and urbanization proceed, thousands migrate from rural to urban areas in search of work.As a result, farmland abandonment problem gradually becomes serious. At the same time, low efficiency of agricultural production has been unable to meet the needs of the development of agricultural modernization. The farmland transfer, promoted by the separation of three rights of farmland, aims at developing various forms of moderate scale management of farmland, which has become an inevitable choice for the agricultural modernization. Therefore,in this context,it is of great practical significance to study the effects of farmland transfer on peasants' income and income gap.Based on the field survey data in Hanting District and Shouguang City, the objective of this paper was to find out the effects of farmland transfer on peasants' income and income gap by using the methods of structural equation model and the quantile regression model. The results showed that:(1)Farmland transfer is a rational decision of sample peasants with the consideration of households' production resource elements allocation.(2)There is a mutual promotion relationship between farmland transfer and non-agricultural employment and the positive effect of farmland transfer on non-agricultural employment is greater than that of non-agricultural employment on farmland transfer.(3)The farmland transfer can promote the increase of peasants' income mainly because of the 'capital effect' and 'labor division effect'and the standardized total effect is 0.372.(4)For the sample peasants with the income from the lowest level to a higher level, farmland transfer may lead to the increase of their income gap;for the peasants at the highest income level, land transfer would reduced the income gap between the highest income households and other households.Specifically, farmland transfer would widen the income gap between the sample peasants whose per capita income range from 1016 yuan to 26995 yuan and narrow the income gap between the sample peasants whose per capita income range from 26995 yuan to 55228.67 yuan and the sample peasants whose per capita income less than 26995 yuan.
