The rapid development of national economy has created good opportunities for construction enterprises.With the rapid development of the construction industry,the competition among enterprises is becoming increasingly fierce.They also need high-level talents more urgently.In the process of project construction,the project manager,as the main person in charge,determines to a large extent the profitability of the project and the realization of the business objectives of the enterprise.Traditionally,the performance appraisal model for project managers in construction enterprises is based on work results.This way can not combine organizational goals with personal growth,nor can it meet the requirements of industry development.Competency-based performance appraisal pays attention to the realization of enterprise strategic objectives,and can also fully cultivate and develop the potential of employees.Enterprises can better implement human resource management in this way.This paper chooses the project manager of SC Construction Company as the research object and constructs the competency model.Also it discusses how to apply it to the performance appraisal of project manager.Firstly,the paper introduces the important role of project manager in construction enterprises.By explaining the drawbacks of the current performance appraisal methods,this paper puts forward the realistic background and significance of the study.Secondly,it summarizes the competency research,introduces the competency research theory and method,as the theoretical support of the research.Then,it introduces the current situation of project manager performance appraisal in SC Construction Company.This paper analyses the problems and reasons of performance appraisal through questionnaire survey,and expounds the necessity of introducing competency model into performance appraisal.Then,the paper identifies the competency factors through three steps,including the project manager job analysis,the reference of relevant literature research,and behavior event interviews.Based on this,the competency model of project manager is constructed.Finally,the paper introduces the competency model into the performance appraisal of project managers,and illustrates the implementation process and safeguard measures of performance appraisal through the case analysis of five assessees.The research results can help SC construction company optimize the performance appraisal of project managers.It can help enterprises combine the realization of organizational goals with the improvement of personal competence,which is conducive to giving full play to the potential of project managers.At the same time,it has certain reference value for human resource management of other construction enterprises.
