Organizational culture is a symbol of an organization’s continuous development and improvement of its ability.It can enhance the organization’s cohesiveness,appeal and centripetal force in the process of guiding members’behavioral purposes and shaping the behavior of members.After the 1980s,organizational culture gradually attracted the attention of management scholars.Edgar Schein is a professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management and an important representative of the School of Cultural Theory.Schein has completely expounded the essence,level and transformation of organizational culture,and created a new dimension of organizational culture.Firstly,this paper analyzes the three theoretical sources of humanism,contingency leadership theory and group dynamics to explore its influence on Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory.On this basis,the theoretical premise,theoretical core,cultural function and influencing factors of change of Schein’s organizational culture are summarized and elaborated fully,and the structure of Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory is presented.Secondly,based on the contents of Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory,analyzes the construction traits of the"Complex man"hypothesis,the structural characteristics of the"Schein’s model",and the transformational characteristics of leadership.Finally,generally evaluates Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory,and excavates the outstanding contribution of Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory to cultural management.It is true that Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory also has some limitations,but it is of great significance for the development of management practice such as the nonnegligible theoretical value and practical significance.Its theoretical value lies in the fact that Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory not only broadens the understanding horizon of management,but also effectively solves the problem of the opposition between subject and ob.ject in cultural management,and promotes the spirit of human subjectivity;Its practical significance lies in the fact that Schein’s Organizational Culture Theory encourages Chinese enterprises to continuously strengthen people-oriented IImanagement in organizational culture construction,actively promotes organizational culture change,and encourages organizations to take the initiative to carry out internal integration and external adaptation to ensure the sustained and sound development of the organization.
