“Strategic Emerging Industries”(“Strategic Industries”)is a term the Chinese government(“the Government”)attributes to key industries tied to the Government's national development strategy.China(“the Country”)is at the juncture of its economic transformation and the existing economic model is insufficient to meet the Country's going needs.That said,exploring new growth pillars and development strategies for the economy are critical tasks at hand.Combining lessons from the past with current situations,cultivating and exploring potential impacts of the Strategic Industries will help the Chinese economy in a positive,meaningful way.This paper explores potential impacts from the Strategic Industries on regional economic development,GDP,employment structure and technology creativity.Using the pharmaceutical industry,medical equipment industry,telecommunication industry,computer industry and aviation industry as representative Strategic Industries,the paper employs Spatial Econometrics methods(with operating revenue,employment statistics,fixed asset investments and public expenditures as key variables)to analyze the impacts on four key areas: i)GDP;ii)employment structure;iii)economic structure;and iv)technology creativity.Finally,policies regarding benefits the Strategic Industries' bring to regional economic development include: i)adjust the economic structure and resolve problems of energy constraints;ii)encourage technology creativity and increase product value-add;iii)motivate human capital development and construct proper human resources structures;iv)increase the scale of government purchase to drive market demand;and v)centralize regional developments to achieve economies of scale.
