An Analysis Of Central And Eastern European Countries Imports From China

China and Central and Eastern European Countries? bilateral trade is currently flourishing.The One Belt One Road project initiative has open up new opportunities to international trade for Chinese goods.A number of countries have developed strategic cooperation with China to enhance bilateral trade and relationships.A key cooperation that China has made with Central and Eastern European Countries(CEEC)in the form of 16 + 1(CEEC + China)attracted researchers? close attention.Investigating this key cooperation,CEEC + China,has profound importance to understand the current trade flow,potential opportunities for future strategic cooperation,trade relation between China and CEEC.This thesis tries to examine factors impacting a trade flow of high-tech products–computers and telephones – from China to CEEC since the beginning of the 21 st century until the year 2014.The prime objective of this investigation is to quantitatively analyze the effect of real exchange rate,gross domestic product(GDP),tariff and distance on the import of computers and telephones.The gravity model is adopted to further discuss the influence mechanisms and policy meaning of the above mentioned factors for the computer and phones import.The results reveal that GDP is positively correlated with the import size;however,real exchange rate has a significant negative effect on computers and telephone import to CEEC from China.Simultaneously,counter-intuitively,CEE countries import tariff positively related to China?s computers and telephones export,for what there are special reasons.This thesis would help to generally understand the CEEC and China(16 + 1)trade cooperation relationship and has illuminated the good policies to amplify bilateral trade in the future.
