China's Intellectual Property Protection And The Quality Of Manufacturing Export Products

In recent years,Chinese trade development has been gradual.Facing the double pressure at home and abroad,realizing the advancement of a large trading country to a trading power country and adhering to the way of high-quality development have become an inevitable choice for China's society and economy.China is in a leading position in many fields of the world,but the gap with the quality of foreign export products is still significant.This is the main reason for China's backward export trade.Therefore,more and more research focuses on product quality topics.The reform of product quality relies on the change of technology,and the intellectual property policy develops together with the technological change.Therefore,this paper studies the relationship between the quality of the product and the quality of the exported product from the perspective of intellectual property protection.This paper takes 23 manufacturing industries in China from 2007 to 2016 as the research sample,selects the product unit value to measure the quality of export products,and adopts the GP index of intellectual property legislation and the law enforcement strength factor to construct the actual intellectual property protection level.The results show that: The quality of China's manufacturing industry's export products in the sample period has ameliorated year by year,among which labor-intensive industries have been transformed and upgraded faster,the development of capital-intensive industries has steadily increased,and the quality of technology-intensive industries has been slower.The level of legislation for intellectual property protection is relatively advanced,and the level of law enforcement is poor,resulting in the real level falling behind developed countries,but the overall development towards a gradual improvement.On the theoretical level,it is considered that intellectual property protection can affect the quality of export products through R&D input channels,FDI channels and import trade channels.Specifically,the reason why intellectual property protection can accelerate the accumulation and transformation of China's technical knowledge,and thus improve the quality of export products is through the protection effect,incentive effect and configuration effect of R&D input channels,through the competitive effects,personnel flow effects,demonstration effects and industrial correlation effects of FDI channels,and through the production participation effects,competition effect and technological demonstration effects of import trade channels.On the empirical level,using the fixed effect model,the systematic GMM estimation method and the group regression to test,the results show that: The strengthening of intellectual property protection can significantly improve the quality of China's manufacturing export products as a whole;Intellectual property protection can improve the quality of export products through R&D channels,FDI channels and import channels,and as an independent innovation method,the effect of R&D channels is greater than that of import trade channels of the technology transfer methods,and is greater than FDI channels in the technology transfer methods;For export products with higher quality and greater R&D investment intensity,FDI intensity and greater import trade intensity,the effect of intellectual property protection on quality improvement is more obvious;In industries with higher technology density,independent research and development can often push forward product quality improvement more than technology transfer,and in industries with lower technology density,it is more likely to form an effective technology spillover to improve the quality of export products through import trade;R&D investment and import trade always play a role in promoting the quality of export products in different groups,but FDI has different effects on industries with different technology densities,and it plays a significant positive effect on industries with lower technology density,and the role of industries with higher technology density is not significant.
