As market competition intensifies,the diversification of customer demand has been arising more and more,orders has been becoming from “large batch” to “small-sized and DIY”.In this competition environment,more and more manufacturers have been switching from MTS operations to MTO,to response to the diversification demand of customer fast.Therefore,manufacturers begin to gain competition advantage from fast-delivery and feasible production,rather than the common product features of differentiation or cost-lead.In the thesis,we investigate an automation equipment manufacturer,M company,who produces customized products for its customers.The customer orders usually requested shorter.However,the order lead-time in M company was quite long and the current order on-time delivery rate was only around 44% due to different reasons.This kind on-time delivery level stands on the average line in the industry.We studied the current on-time delivery performance,and applied some of Lean Production tools with business optimization theories to analyze the root cause of the poor on-time delivery performance in M company.Meanwhile,we mainly used Value Stream Mapping tool to identify the bottleneck of M company's business process and verified the root cause.By “eliminating”,“combining”,“Reducing” and “Optimizing”,we provided the target,completed the related future processes design and the optimization scheme.Finally,we proposed improvement action and implement plan.Then we applied the above implement plan in M company successfully.The results showed that the on-time delivery and the efficiency of process are improved well.We hope this study could be helpful as a reference for other small-scale companies for continuous improvement.
