Research On Urban Competitiveness From The Perspective Of Urban Renewal

The city is the product of the development of human civilization to a certain stage and the nature of the city is the economic efficiency gains achieved by the concentration of population.Since the 20 th century,urbanization swept the world,enhance the city's competitiveness has become an important issue in today's world development.However,the scale of urban space continues to expand and the population continues to gather.At the same time of rapid economic growth,a large number of developed cities(especially those with developed urbanization and large populations)have produced “urban diseases” such as environmental pollution,shortage of resources,and increase in the number of poor people.This has led to a decline in urban competitiveness and the constrained urban sustainable development.As one of the effective means to solve the problem of “urban disease”,urban renewal is an important choice for cities to optimize the development of stocks,enhance urban competitiveness and the ability of urban sustainable development.Urban renewal through the maintenance,renovation,demolition and other means to make rational urban land reuse,thus improving the overall function of cities,meeting the growing needs of urban residents.Based on the definition of urban competitiveness and urban renewal,this paper firstly sorts out the relevant theories of urban development stage,“growth pole”,regional development,sustainable development and urban competitiveness,and secondly analyzes urban renewal at different stages of development.Then,this paper differentiated urban renewal followed by the goal-oriented,and finally analyzed the impact path of urban renewal and urban competitiveness and its mechanism of action.This paper attempts to construct an evaluation index system for urban competitiveness from the perspective of urban renewal.Different from the existing research on the evaluation of urban competitiveness,this paper takes the urban renewal orientation as the core,and based on the availability of data,chooses four types of indicators: economic development,social foundation,technological innovation and open communication,to build an economic,social,An innovative and open multi-center urban competitiveness evaluation system.On this basis,19 cities in China with high urbanization level and large population size were selected as samples,and empirical analysis was carried out by factor analysis.Research shows that As an important means to enhance the competitiveness of cities,urban renewal plays an important role in improving the overall efficiency of cities,promoting the improvement of urban functions,and enhancing the welfare of urban development,and promoting sustainable urban development.Specifically,urban competitiveness based on urban renewal presents a significant regional imbalance.Cultural renewal and innovation and value-enhancing urban renewal have a more direct impact on urban competitiveness.More importantly,the degree of development of different cities is different,and the types of urban renewal that can play a better role are also different.It needs to adapt to local conditions.In view of the negative impacts and potential risks of urban renewal projects on urban competitiveness,this study believes that in cities with conditions,urban renewal should be placed in a more important strategic position to pay attention to,and the government should create a good environment for urban renewal and development,and pay attention to coordinate the city to update the relationship of different stakeholders at the same time.
