Research On The Impact Of The BRICS Countries OFDI On Technology Upgrading Of Export Products

The BRICS countries have similar economic development stages and are faced with upgrading the technological level of export products,getting rid of unsustainable resources and labor-oriented export status,optimizing the capital allocation structure through OFDI,promoting the upgrading of export products and promoting the transformation and upgrading of export trade structure.Also gained a certain degree of recognition.In recent years,the OFDI of the BRICS countries has shown an upward trend,which is particularly evident in China.Therefore,it is very important to explore the effect and mechanism of OFDI on the technological upgrading of export products.This article focuses on the impact of BRICS OFDI on the technical level of domestic exports.Firstly,the method of Hausmann et al.was used to measure the technical level of export products of the BRICS countries from 2000 to 2016,and the results were analyzed.Secondly,the theoretical analysis framework of OFDI affecting the export technology level was constructed,and the OFDI was sought through the host country resources.The analysis of the mechanisms that influence the overseas market,seek technological progress and seek strategic assets to influence the level of export technology;then empirically test the intermediary role of host country resources,overseas markets,technological progress and strategic assets in the impact of OFDI on export technology.Regulating effect.Our research shows that there are some unique characteristics in the upgrading of OFDI and export products in BRICS countries.First,theoretical analysis and empirical analysis show that the BR countries OFDI have a significant role in promoting the technical level of export products.Foreign investment in brick countries can effectively improve their export technology and improve their export structure.Second,the promotion of export technology by OFDI in BRICS countries is mainly through the acquisition of host country resources,expansion of overseas markets,promotion of technological progress and integration of strategic assets.Conducted through a channel,the mediation effect is significant.Third,in the process of the impact of OFDI on the export technology level in the BRICS countries,the four variables of host country resources,overseas markets,technological progress and strategic assets also played a regulatory role,and the regulatory effect has a marginal diminishing effect.The impact of BRS OFDI on export technology upgrades has been diminished with the acquisition of host country resources,the expansion of overseas markets,technological advancement and accumulation of strategic assets.In order to better play the role of OFDI in promoting the upgrading of BRICS export products,we put forward some countermeasures and suggestions based on the actual situation of BRICS countries and based on the main conclusions: On the one hand,the BRICS policy on the OFDI should be encouraged.The increase in volume has turned to the pursuit of quality improvement.On the other hand,the BRICS countries should pay attention to the domestic economic system and investment and business environment while actively participating in global governance.
