The Impact Of Social Proximity On Cross-border Search-the Intermediary Effect Of Self-efficacy

In the past decade,cross-border innovation,as an innovation mode to break the barriers between industry and organization and promote the deep integration of diversified technologies,has spawned a large number of new products and high growth emerging enterprises,subverting the original industry technology and competition pattern.In this context,China attaches great importance to cross-border innovation,and clearly takes "promoting cross-border innovation of emerging technologies in various fields" as an important content of innovation driven strategy.Cross border search,as the primary task of cross-border innovation,not only helps enterprises to break through their own boundaries to find innovative technological knowledge and resources,but also helps enterprises to change their cross-border innovation mode and strategic orientation At present,it is very important for Chinese enterprises to improve their ability of independent innovation and maintain their sustainable competitiveness.Based on the research framework of social proximity and enterprise cross-border search,this study analyzes the path mechanism from social proximity to enterprise cross-border search from the perspective of organization technology two-dimensional boundary.First of all,by consulting and combing relevant literature,cross-border search of enterprises is divided into two dimensions:breadth and depth of cross-border search according to the diversity and reorganization degree of technical knowledge,and the impact of social proximity on the two dimensions of cross-border search of enterprises is studied.Secondly,based on the theory of self,this paper introduces the self-efficacy of the border jumper to explore its mediating role in the process of social proximity affecting the cross-border search of enterprises.Thirdly,considering the influence of the geographical location of both sides of cross-border cooperation on the existence of self-efficacy of border crossing,this paper introduces geographical proximity and analyzes its regulatory role between social proximity and self-efficacy.Finally,with 216 enterprises as the research object,using SPSS 21.0 and Mplus 8.3 data analysis tools,structural equation model is used to test the mediating role of self-efficacy and the regulating role of geographical proximity in social proximity and self-efficacy.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1)social proximity has a significant positive impact on the breadth of cross-border search and the depth of cross-border search,but social proximity has a greater impact on the breadth of cross-border search than on the depth of cross-border search;(2)self-efficacy has an intermediary effect between social proximity and the breadth of cross-border search;self-efficacy has an intermediary effect between social proximity and the depth of cross-border search;(3)geographical proximity positively regulates the relationship between social proximity and self-efficacy of border crossingIn summary,this study links social proximity with the success of cross-border search,and reveals that strong social proximity between cross-border partners can help the border jumpers to improve their self-confidence in completing cross-border tasks,so that the border jumpers can more actively implement diversified heterogeneous technical knowledge search.This study found that the geographical proximity performance of both sides of cross-border cooperation effectively improves the sensitivity of social proximity to the self-efficacy of border crossing people.Under the strong geographical proximity,border crossing people will have a stronger sense of confidence in completing cross-border tasks,and then have a positive impact on their cross-border search behavior.The last chapter discusses the conclusion,policy suggestions,limitations and prospects of the study.
