Abstract/Summary:
This research examines the historical basis for geographic policing, to determine if Arlington Police Officers believe they are truly committed to geographic policing, and to establish the perceived effect that geographic policing has on the Uniform Crime Report statistics in Arlington, Texas. A purposive sample of police officers at the City of Arlington, Texas Police Department was studied using a self-administered survey, which consisted of 27 items. The research suggests that there are indeed differences in the perceptions of geographic policing and its outcome.
