Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a periodization strength program, designed specifically for wrestling, to improve maximal strength and muscular endurance. Three groups, traditional (n = 13), periodization (n = 13), and control (n = 8) performed pre, mid, and posttest measurements. The traditional and periodization groups performed the preacher barbell curl, according to their respective training protocol, twice weekly for 10 weeks. The traditional, periodization, and control groups increased maximal strength 28.6%, 24.4%, and 19.2% from pre to posttest, respectively.
