| Since the enactment of the Cultural Relics Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, the awareness of legal protection has been enhanced and relevant laws and regulations have been improved. At the same time,China has been hugely dedicated to helpful theoretical researches and practical efforts on the protection for historic blocks, and a relatively mature protection pattern has been formed. However, with the development of rapid urbanization and cultural globalization in recent years, the conventional protection pattern for historic blocks comes into some problems:stereotyped landscapes, cultural characteristics missing, functional decay, etc. How to break through the protection pattern focused on the standard or the exterior? And how to make historic blocks both continue historic and cultural heritage and integrate into contemporary progress come to us as a significant agenda.Based on those facts, this Thesis introduces the concepts and methodology of Historic Urban Landscape(HUL)put forward by the United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO)to elaborate, following the guidance of layering analysis, correlative recognition and adaptive protection to explore how to analyze historic blocks’ layering rules. In this Thesis, the substance space evolution rules and its correlative rules with natural, cultural and social elements are summarized from layering rules, which can be the guidance for making current strategies for adaptation protection.Taking the layering rules analysis as the approach, this Thesis, based on the definition of layering of HUL,brings up the main research contents, methods and framework;elaborates on the early-stage preparations and steps, and the specific analytical methods. The early-stage preparations of the layering rules analysis include spatial carrier recognition, collection and translation of historical information, construction of the spatial database,phase-by-phase research on the layering process.Based on the above, the layering rules analysis for historic blocks adopts the qualitative and quantitative methodology to conduct studies from two perspectives: evolution rules of the spatial framework, and correlative rules of environmental elements. For adaptation protection, this Thesis elaborates on the concept and definition of adaptation protection for historic blocks, sets up logical relationships for the layering rules analysis and the adaptation protection, puts forward the adaptation protection strategy for historic blocks. The strategy takes protecting the main body and adapting to environments as the objective, and adopts adapting to the natural, cultural and social environments as the core contents.Based on the above mentioned, taking the Ciqikou Historic Block as an example, this Thesis studies its historical layering process from the Song Dynasty till now;gives a summary on Ciqikou’s four evolution rules and models of the spatial carrier: spatial framework, groups and locations, street grid and landmarks;digs out, from the perspective of the environment, the correlative rules between the spatial evolution and the natural, cultural and social layering. At length,in accordance with present protection problems, current development environment and demand, concrete adaptation protection strategies are put forward to offer some guidance to protecting and developing the Ciqikou Historic Block from three perspectives: framework protection and scenery shaping catering to the natural environment, landmark activation and context extension catering to the cultural environment, and group alternation and quality improvement catering to the social environment. |
