Under the background of the information age,the traditional planning and design theories and tools are no longer enough to deal with the urban problems in the new era.The emergence of big data provides a new perspective for urban planning to discover the problems existing in the city from the macro and medium perspective.As an important public place in a city,city square is very important for the development of a city.At present,the research on urban square mainly uses the theory and method of POE to explore and evaluate the use of urban square space from a micro perspective.As a thousand year old capital and capital of China,Beijing has a strong historical and cultural heritage,and is also a modern metropolis in China.The Master Plan of Beijing(2016--2035)proposes to create a good living environment and increase activity squares to provide more recreation places for the people.How to protect the historical features and urban texture of the ancient capital while increasing the city square to meet the needs of citizens’ activities needs to be studied and discussed.In view of the above problems,this paper takes the city square in the old urban area of Beijing as the research object,through the literature research and current situation investigation,tries to explore the application of big data combined with POE in the planning and design of city square.The main content of this paper is divided into four parts: firstly,it analyzes the research background,purpose and significance of the paper,defines the relevant concepts and discusses,and summarizes the research results at home and abroad.The second part combs and studies the general situation of the city square in the old city of Beijing,and in the third chapter constructs the model of the city square analysis method based on the combination of big data and POE.In the third part,through practice,we use the big data and Poe model to evaluate the city square in the old urban area of Beijing.First,we analyze the macro and medium level of big data,and then screen out the squares with higher evaluation,and analyze the micro level of Poe.In the sixth chapter,according to the above analysis results,we focus on the optimization strategy of Beijing Bell Tower and Drum Tower cultural square.The last part is the conclusion,which summarizes the research of this paper,aiming to provide appropriate theoretical basis and practical reference for the planning of urban square and the improvement of environmental quality in the old urban area of Beijing.
