Research And Application Of IT Project Management Maturity Model Based On OPM3

Project management is one of the important activities of L-Classification Society as a global business to maintain continuous growth.And project quality management is an important part of the company’s project management activities.In recent years,when IT departments in China promote related projects or project groups,they are concerned that some project delivery results deviate from actual requirements,resulting in a decline to user satisfaction.How to ensure the quality of project delivery and improve user satisfaction on the premise of using various project resources effectively is the direction that the company needs to improve the level of project management through relevant management knowledge or tools.As one of the tools in the field of project quality management,organizational project management maturity model(OPM3)can quantify and evaluate project management activities.Relevant management teams can analyze the weakness in project management activities based on the evaluation results and propose suggestions to improve project management quality.Therefore,establishing an IT project management maturity model based on OPM3 can help company to improve the success rate of project delivery and user satisfaction.This paper analyzes the current project management status and characteristics of L-Classification Society.According to compare different project management maturity models,author selects OPM3 as the model basis to establish tools suitable for the company’s IT project management to improve the project management level.The author combines the nine major areas of project management and the management elements of the project life cycle to tailor a maturity model that fits the company’s IT project management activities,and improves the accuracy of the maturity model assessment results through improved quantitative assessment methods.Finally,this maturity model is applied to the implementation of specific project groups of L-Classification Society.Through quantitative analysis of the evaluation results of various management domains,it summarizes expert suggestions and proposes improvement ideas.Furthermore it applies them to other IT projects or project groups to achieve continuous improvement of project quality management goals.Since the research and application scope of this paper is limited to IT project management of L classification society,and IT is the first time to explore the establishment of IT project management maturity model based on OPM3,the practical application has certain effect on the improvement of project management level.
