Railway transportation,especially high-speed railway,is not only the national infrastructure,but also the main artery of the national economy.It has an extremely important strategic position and exerts immeasurable social and economic benefits.At present,China has formed a high-speed railway network framework of "four vertical and four horizontal",which will be continuously constructed and upgraded to "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway main corridors in the future.It plays an important supporting role in stimulating economic growth and promoting employment.From the perspective of theoretical analysis and empirical test,this thesis discusses in detail the impact of high-speed rail on employment in the service industry.This thesis deduces the mechanism of the impact of high-speed rail on employment in the tertiary industry by taking the improvement of regional accessibility caused by high-speed rail as the starting point,and analyzes the positive and negative effects.In the aspect of empirical analysis,this thesis first constructs the accessibility evaluation model.Through the calculation of the accessibility of 14 station cities along the line,it is found that the high-speed rail significantly improved the accessibility of cities along the Wuhan-Guangzhou region.According to the different degree of improvement,it has the following characteristics: large cities < small and medium-sized cities,prefecture-level cities < county-level cities,node cities in the middle section of the line < node cities at the beginning and end of the line.On this basis,taking the area along Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway as the research object,this thesis constructs a two-phase differential model to conduct an empirical study on the impact of high-speed railway on the overall employment of the tertiary industry and the impact of segmented industries.The results show that Wuhan-Guangzhou high-speed railway significantly promotes the growth of employment in the tertiary industry,especially sub-sectors such as leasing and business services,real estate,wholesale and retail.In order to further explore the regional quality conditions for high-speed rail to play the role of employment promotion,this thesis innovatively applies the panel threshold model to analyze the regional heterogeneity of the impact of high-speed rail on the employment of the tertiary industry.It is found that the impact of Wuhan Guangzhou high speed railway on the employment of the tertiary industry is closely related to the regional quality.When the average wage level of the city is more than 32814 yuan and the industrial structure is more than 39.7%,the high-speed railway can have a more significant positive impact on the employment of the tertiary industry in the areas along the line.Based on the above conclusions,the thesis puts forward relevant policy recommendations in terms of grasping the timing of high-speed rail construction,accelerating industrial structure adjustment,and paying attention to infrastructure construction.
