Ralph Wegman,president of IF,has said that the broad visibility of future design comes from the deep collaboration and research across kansei Engineering.With the rapid change of medical technology,the rehabilitation of the disabled is no longer just a slogan of developed countries.it should be the consensus of people all over the world.Nowadays,prosthetic products are less functional and expensive for the largest segment of the disabled population.Besides,the market for prosthetic limbs for children with disabilities is seriously missing.Therefore,based on the methods and principles of Kansei Engineering.this project takes the upper limb prosthetic products as the research object.then,deeply excavates the different needs of the disabled children.Additionally,I provides a new design idea and innovative method for the design of the upper limb prosthetic products for the disabled children.This paper firstly reviews the research status and limitations of upper limb prosthesis at home and abroad.Next,it elucidate development and application of kansei engineering and the guidance of perceptual design for products for children with mutilated limbs were explained.Then,it combing the average user characteristics of the mutilation of children.It analyzes children from four dimensions of physiology,psychology,cognition and behavior,and makes contact with their needs from three aspects of product image elements,color,shape and material.Additionally,it explain the theory and category of receiving cavity.The scope of prosthetic products is determined by specific users.Besides,man-machine experiments are carried out to measure the human body data commonly used by users.then the size threshold interval of children’s upper limb prosthetic products corresponding to this topic is found out.Next,it establish the perceptual image vocabulary library and product sample image model library of upper limb prosthesis by using the methods and theories of Kansei engineering.Likert scale method and semantic difference method were used to further confirm the correlation between perceptual image vocabulary elements and product sample image elements.SPSS was used for statistical analysis of the data results,factor analysis was used for dimensionality reduction of the data,the importance of the internal structure of the image elements was evaluated,and then the user perceptual demand model and product image elements database were established.Then through the user questionnaire investigation and analysis of specific scenes,the design elements of specific user groups are located,which lays a solid theoretical foundation for design practice.Finally,the user perceptual demand model and product image elements are matched one by one to find out the design elements and ductility of the upper limb prosthesis product.It provides a new design direction and idea for the combination of Kansei engineering and prosthetic product design.besides,it make a beneficial attempt in the vacant prosthetic market for mutilated children and provide a reference for the future researchers.
