With the development and progress of the society,there are increasing criticism to the traditional teaching mode for the reason that it could do little to cultivate students’comprehensive ability and creativity.Consequently,it is of paramount importance to investigate a kind of new teaching mode that is s benefit for students’ overall development.The instruction mode,three instructional roles and four teaching steps,is a kind of original teaching mode,which can make up for the potential drawbacks of the traditional teaching mode.This new teaching mode effectively combines the teamwork with the teaching mode of"three instructional roles and four teaching steps",which enables teamwork and this new teaching mode to complement and supplement one another.First and foremost,the author found out the theoretical basis for this new teaching mode by the means of reading a large amount of literatures.Secondly,the author meticulously designed the teaching designs and organized this new instruction mode in the class so as to further delve into the effects of this new instruction mode on students’ interest and their proficiency.Ultimately,the author learned about the effects of this new instruction mode on both students’ proficiency and their interest in English learning by means of questionnaires,tests and interviews.The "three instructional roles" refer to a learning plan as a main thread,students as the main bodies and a teacher as a facilitator.The "four teaching steps" refer to the goal leading-independent learning and cooperative inquiry-intensive instruction and direction-standard test.To commence with,goal leading is the first step of this teaching mode:In this step,teachers create situations closely related to the theme of this lesson,so that students can quickly focus their attention on the class,and stimulate their interest in English learning.Subsequently,in the second step of this teaching mode,both independent learning and cooperative inquiry are included.In this step,students take the initiative to acquire knowledge by means of free discussion,mutual assistance and joint effort,which can not only cultivate students’ good learning habits but also develop their overall ability.Additionally,the third step is intensive instruction and direction.In this stage,teachers sum up the important and difficult points so as to help students have a better command of the new knowledge.Equal importantly,in this step,teachers also make a comment on students’performance and the team success is judged by the group’s achievement.Ultimately,the standard test is the final step of the class.In this step,a variety of test means will be employed by teachers to help students review the important and difficult points,which can consolidate students’ basic English knowledge and lay a good foundation for students’lifelong learning.In a word,a study on the effect of "three instructional roles and four teaching steps"instruction mode on English learning by junior high school students can not only enrich the teaching theories,but also provide practical and valuable experience for the new curriculum reform in Shenzhen Speicial Zone.
