| As an eminent literatus and collector in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty,Zhou Lianggong dedicated himself to art scene throughout his life,developing a large number of collections and associating with artistic personages.He devoted rest of his life to Chinese Painting and Calligraphy after encountering an official career frustration at his senectitude.Based on a research on Zhou Lianggong’s collections,gatherings,and social intercourse during 1654 to 1672,the thesis elaborates a view of cultural communication presented by practice and collection of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy in the early Qing Dynasty.With the background of Zhou Lianggong’s official career frustration,the thesis focuses on the transition of his mind and aesthetic tastes by analyzing the collections and gatherings that he carried on at Duhua Pavilion of his own residence,portraying a community of literati,painters and cultural agents centering on Zhou Lianggong in Nanjing during the early Qing Dynasty.At the end,with an analysis of the relationship between Zhou Lianggong’s artistic views and collections,the thesis highlights Zhou Lianggong’s influence and promotion on painters which is demonstrated by the social intercourse between he and Wang Hui. |
