The materials of this paper are selected from 2019 IQIYI World Conference, with the theme of Innovation Drives Win-win Ecology. The conference brought together many leading figures from the Internet, entertainment and media circles. The interpreter chose Mo Yan’s speech “Old Writers and IQIYI” and Wang Xiangjun’s and Zhang Jixue’s speeches as the materials for simultaneous interpreting simulation. Most speakers used impromptu speech and preferred to quote the tittles of classic literature works. Therefore, the redundancy of information, the translation of the names of literary works and the use of idioms in the speech cause pressure on the interpreter’s listening and analysis effort load, thus affecting the short-term memory and production effort distribution, making simultaneous interpreting difficult.Under the guidance of Gile’s effort model, the interpreter completed the simulation of simultaneous interpreting. It proved that adequate pre-interpreting preparation, literal translation, simplification, paraphrasing and other strategies can improve the quality of interpreting. The interpreter wants to summarize her strengths and weaknesses through the simulation and simultaneous interpreting, and accumulate experience for the real tasks in the future. In addition, she hopes to provide other interpreters with practical suggestions through her own summary.
