| Nowadays,the propagation of Chinese culture in the other parts of the world is an important national goal,in which the introduction of Guangxi culture to people of other lands is a part.Nevertheless,according to the researches and statistics collected,there have been no related studies of the overseas translation and dissemination of Guangxi works so far.Therefore,the research objective of this thesis is to focus on the overseas English translation and dissemination of works by Guangxi celebrities,and to provide a sound basis for scholars who are interested in the translation of works by Guangxi celebrities.The research methods of this thesis are methods of bibliographical research and observation,in which the data are mostly searched on WorldCat operated by Online Computer Library Center.Besides,many other online resources are also collected,namely,Google,Amazon,Goodreads,Wikipedia and Baidu Baike.Based on these search results,the thesis can offer an overview of the works translated into English and disseminated overseas and further discuss the strategies of the translation.The research results of this thesis mainly lie in two aspects: the features and value of the translation and dissemination.The former,taken from the perspective of foreign translators,content selection,dissemination channels,target text readers and dissemination effect,reflects: sinologists or scholars interested in Chinese culture working as translators,diversified purposes of doing translation,plural channels used indissemination,limited number of target text readers,and poor result of dissemination.The latter depends on the feedback of overseas readership,from which it can be summarized in five points: showing the charm of Guangxi culture,reducing the misreading of Chinese culture,promoting cultural exchanges and integration between nations,emphasizing the training of local translators,and making adjustments to the overseas dissemination of Guangxi culture for the sake of entailing Guangxi works keeping pace with the times.The conclusion of this thesis is that the dissemination effect of the overseas English translation of works by Guangxi celebrities needs to be improved,which deserves serious consideration. |
