Hospice care is a great undertaking,and also a sensitive topic to discuss.It tightly connects to everyone’s life process.The meaning of hospice is to provide dying patients with proper medical care and treatments in order to relieve their suffering.And as a result,in the final stage of life,the patients can live with dignity and comfort.However,in China,hospice still remains unknown to most people,and related practice in the professional field has just begun.The selected text of this translation report is from the last module of ELNEC-Core Curriculum: Final Hours of Life.In this module,nurses will get to know how to provide better care for the patients in the final days of their life and pay attention to the patients’ physical,psychological,social and spiritual needs.This text is a medical one with a great number of terminology and compound sentences.To tackle the problems in the translation,the author consults the Comprehension,Expression and adaptation concept by Professor Li Changshuan and chooses Reiss’ s Text Typology theory as a guiding theory.This report mainly discusses the difficult points in the translation from the aspects of words,sentences and textual coherence and it has made a summary of the author’s translation process and experience.The report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is an introduction to the translation project.The second chapter is a description of the translation process.The third chapter is an introduction to the framework of Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation.The fourth chapter is case analysis.And the last chapter is the conclusion part.Hopefully this report will give some benefits to thosewho have interest in studying medical text translation and those who engage in the related work. |
