Social problems,such as environment pollution,global warming,energy shortage,refugee crisis,have posed serious threat to human beings.Countries take measures actively to prevent such problems,but these problems haven’t been eliminated completely.For modern society,the most serious problems are climate change and environment pollution.The translator chooses the book Changemakers(Excerpt)as the source text to do the translation practice and the translation report.Changemakers was published by the New Society Publishers in Canada in May 2018.It is written by Fay Weller and Mary Wilson.The concepts and reasons about social change are told in this book,as well as the stories of changemakers.This book gives us the practical methods of solving social problems,especially the methods of solving climate and environment problems.Personal actions can bring great social change.It belongs to social science text.Some E-C translation strategies in social science text are given based on Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory.This report is divided into four chapters.Chapter one is task description which introduces the source text,features of the source text,as well as significance of the task.Chapter two is translation process description,including the preparations before translation,translation process and quality control.Chapter three is case analysis which presents the translation strategies adopted from lexical level,syntactic level and stylistic level respectively under the guidance of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory.Chapter four is practice summary,which includes the translation reflection and the problems to be solved during the translation process.This report aims at improving the author’s translation ability,offering target readers some practical methods of solving social problems and providing references for relevant researches.
