A Study On The Relationship Between Chinese Characters And Words In Wei,Jin,Southern And Northern Dynasties

This article uses Chinese characters vocational theory(汉字职用学)as a guide,analyses the relationship between characters and words in the literature of dictionary,exegesis book and notes.In the aspect of dictionary,represent books are Gujinzigu(《古今字诂》)Guangya(《广雅》)and Zilin(《字林》)in the Wei and Jin dynasties.The writer’s general understanding of the word relationships can be reflected.In the Southern and Northern dynasties,Gu Ye Wang(顾野王)’s Yupian(《玉篇》)was taken as the important point,through the Yewangan(野王案),can reflect the understanding of the Chinese character system,and the related thought of the word relation contained in the characters and words in it was interpreted.In the aspect of exegesis book,taking Guo Pu(郭璞)’s note as the representative,this paper discusses Guo Pu’s understanding of word relationships from the perspective of history and general time,and analyzes others concept of word relationships in the same time.In the aspect of notes,taking Yanshi jia xun(《颜氏家训》)and Jin gu jin wen zi biao(《进古今文字表》)as the representative,this part mainly analyzes Yan Zhitui(颜之推)’s thoughts on the relationship between function words and suzi(俗字),and Jiangshi(江式)’s thoughts on the origin of words.The concept of word relationships among scholars in Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern dynasties can be summarized as follows: realizing the difference between characters and words,clearly recognizing the corresponding relationship between words,especially Gu Yewang’s understanding of the law of Chinese character evolution and the system of Chinese characters.However,the understanding of words is not in place,so the thought of word relationship is not clear and perfect,and the relationship between words lacks innovation.Analyzing the causes of the thought of word relationship in word relationships in the Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern dynasties: the social environment is dynamic,the use of words is confused,and the scholars develop a study on word relationships.The rise of the word refers to the interest of learners in the text itself.The new development of classics increase the number of word research materials.
