| As economic growth and development accelerate, the world is now more focused on meeting the challenges of climate change and global warming through the use of climate adaptation finance and investment.Climate change affects the natural environment, ecosystems and human health,in addition to the stability of national economies and financial systems. At the same time,it is also a factor which drives structural change in the financial system, rendering climate change a part of financial risk. The translator has chosen a financial article as the translated materials for this translation practice report, which is guided by Hans Vermeer’s Skopos Theory.Case analysis is a vital part of this translation practice report and some of the sentences are analysed as examples of translation at lexical, syntactic, and textual levels.Regarding vocabulary, technical terms and abbreviations frequently appear in the source text. The fidelity rule was mainly applied and the translator adopts literal translation, liberal translation, and amplification to ensure accuracy and professionalism at lexical level. At syntactic level, there are some difficulties with passive sentences, long and difficult sentences, and attributive clauses. The methods of sequential, reversing, and division are adopted by the translator to ensure conciseness in the translation. Finally,at textual level, the translator employs the translation methods of restructuring, division, and amplification to cope with the issues on references, substitutions, and ellipses in the translation, thereby achieving cohesion and coherence in the target text.Hopefully, the translation report can provide some reference for the translators in the future. |
