This article focuses on the three journals of "China Student Weekly","Big Feature" and "Film Biweekly".The time period selected for the research is from the establishment of "China Student Weekly"(1952)to the establishment of "Film Biweekly" Hong Kong Film Awards(1982).These three journals constitute a continuous relationship.The main theme of "China Student Weekly" is "run by Chinese students and for Chinese students".Its movie version "Cinema Circle" came out in 1960,and film critics surrounding the "Cinema Circle" stopped running the publication.Later,it reorganized the "Big Feature" and the subsequent "Film Biweekly".The latter hosted the first Hong Kong Film Awards in 1982,indicating the cohesion of Hong Kong film aesthetics.In the past 30 years,three Hong Kong film periodicals have completed the introduction of Western film aesthetics,which has awakened the local film aesthetics and promoted its maturity and standardization.The literature review shows that the previous research on film reviews generally starts from the following perspectives: 1.Since newspapers and periodicals are important propaganda methods in the context of the Cold War,Hong Kong newspapers and periodicals have become key cases of cultural studies due to their special position in the East Asian cultural circle.2.Separately discuss the style of film critics in a certain period,such as the ideological independence shown by film critics at a certain stage,or the introduction of the new wave of French film aesthetics into Hong Kong.The author will return to history,through careful reading of the original documents such as newspapers,anthologies,and related historical materials,not only to construct the flow of film review journals at a macro level,to summarize the characteristics of each stage,and to make detailed supplements to film history;but also at the micro level.On the level of analysis,how the "film circle" has gradually awakened and guided the film aesthetic consciousness of Hong Kong citizens during the years of operation,and promoted the shift to the identity of Chinese-language films in the later period.This article will use three magazines to sort out four clues that run through its decades of evolution.The main clue is to gradually foster a localized aesthetic system by introducing the beauty of Western movies.In addition,there are three hidden clues: first,the evolution of Hong Kong film reviews and the development of the Hong Kong film industry have witnessed each other;second,in the process of urbanization,the education level of citizens has improved and the film culture ecology of Hong Kong has improved;Third,the changes in social thoughts,from the initial ideological narrative,to the positive outlook under the dissolution of the "left" and "right" confrontation in the mid-term,to the later political indifference.Newspaper printing and book publishing are a network of newspapers,books,authors,and readers.Film review journals mobilize the enthusiasm of Hong Kong citizens to participate in public opinion and increase the importance of Chinese and Cantonese films.In my research,the author also examines the community activities behind it through the historical facts published by the magazine,and explores the aesthetic consciousness of film critics.In fact,the mature aesthetics of Hong Kong films depends on the enthusiasm of film critics to improve the ecology of Hong Kong films with articles,so that the above three periodicals have a profound impact on the spirit of Hong Kong’s aesthetics.
