| This is a project report on the translation of Cognitive Drill Therapy:Techniques of Drill Therapy and Self-helps of OCD which were written by an Indian psychologist Rakesh Jain.These two chapters mainly introduce how he treats the phobia and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder by asking the patients to verbally repeat their feared objects and cognition.This project may help the affected people to know about their problems and treat them by themselves.Based on translation shift theory,the translator was committed to making the psychological text more accessible to ordinary people.In the project,the translation of passive voice,and word class become the difficulties and the translator dealt with them separately with structural shift,class shift and unit shift.The report consists of five chapters : Chapter One is about introduction on the project and source text.In this part,the reason of choosing the text and the significance will be explained.The background of the source text will be illustrated too.For the second chapter,the introduction about author,main contents and linguistic styles will be given.Chapter Three is the theoretical basis,aiming to analyse the features of information-based text and the development of Catford’s Translation Shift Theory.The fourth chapter is for translation difficulties and methods.It may focus on the specific methods like class shift,structure shift and unit shift.Fifth,lessons,implications and unsolved problems in the translation project will be concluded. |
