| With the continuous development and innovation of information technology and artificial intelligence, machine interpretation’s rapid growth and application can create threats to human interpretation and forces human interpretation to make drastic changes.People want to innovate and replace human interpretation with machine interpretation and want to explore the feasibility of human-computer combined interpretation.Under the guidance of Translation Variation Theory, this thesis attaches importance to four frequently used translation methods of translation variation: supplement, deletion, edition, and remodeling. This thesis adopts the method of case analysis to study the specific application in human interpretation and machine interpretation, specifically devoted to the following three questions:(1)What are the similarities and differences between human interpretation and machine interpretation when using the four frequently used translation variation methods?(2)What are the advantages and disadvantages of the four frequently used translation variation methods?(2)How to combine the advantages of the two effectively?Press Conference of WHO-China Joint Mission on COVID-19 is regarded as the corpus. At the same time,“Youdao Translator” and “Google Translator” are selected as the representatives of machine interpretation and compared with the interpretation of on-site interpreters. It is concluded that:(1)Both human interpretation and machine interpretation use the four translation variation methods, but the use of each method varies according to the specific situation;(2)Human interpretation is more flexible and frequent than machine interpretation in adopting the four translation variation methods;(3)We should give full play to the advantages of machine interpretation in science and technology,as well as the advantages of human interpretation in emotion and thinking,so as to achieve the unity of speed and quality and make interpretation more perfect.Furthermore, under the guidance of the Translation Variation Theory, this thesis proposes how to effectively combine them in the future, which has a specific reference role for human-machine interpretation. |
